Showing Checklist

First impressions are lasting impressions.

Here is a showing checklist to help you make a good impression.

Since many buyers are unable to overcome a poor first impression, it is our job to create an initial image that will last and lead to an offer.

Suggestions:What-can-I-do

  • Weed and trim the yard, hedges and gardens
  • Keep sidewalks and driveway clear of toys, snow, ice, etc…
  • Brighten the home by opening curtains and shades and turning on all lights
  • Straighten throw rugs and carpets
  • Clean windows and all conspicuous surfaces
  • Spruce up the entry
  • Make sure stairways are free of clutter
  • Clean the kitchen sinks, counters and appliances
  • Put dishes away, empty dishwasher, and put out clean towels
  • Make all beds and straighten the closets
  • Clean the laundry area
  • Ensure that all daily clutter has been put away
  • Turn off TVs and radios
  • Clean the fireplace
  • Clean the garage and work areas
  • If possible, keep pets outdoors or in the basement

Valuable Tips:

  • Ensure that all door hardware (locks, handles, knobs) function properly
  • Repair leaky faucets
  • Repair or install handrails
  • Store or lock up small items and valuable items
  • If possible, leave the home for all showings, taking children and pets
  • If you must be present during a showing, stay out of the way
  • Do not attempt to “assist” the showing agent. Trust them to do their job
  • Only allow prospects that are accompanied by an agent to view your home
  • Expect a business card from anyone who shows your home
